Slow Living in Covid-19

“Slow living is all about creating time and space and energy for the things that matter most to us in life, so ask yourself what you stand to gain.”

Slow living is relevant now more than ever. Not only is winter approaching, but we’ve been forced to isolate and shift our lifestyles drastically. For many, this adjustment has been uncomfortable… and for others, it’s been a walk in the park. You think living life at a slower pace would be easy- but for those who are used to a quick pace hustle-bustle, it can be tough. Life will always be busy, but that doesn’t mean there’s no time to live in the moment and increase our sense of wellbeing by simply relaxing a little. We’ve put together some tips to help you adjust to this new way, which focuses more on enjoying the ride and less about being busy.

Rejuvenating

Rejuvenate the connection with yourself and those that surround you. This can be focused on relationships, projects, or simply self-care. Do nice things for yourself, change up an old routine, and focus on feeling good so you can replenish whatever you feel needs rejuvenation.

Create Healthy Spaces

Our home is a retreat from the chaotic world and should feel like a sanctuary. Each room should be created with a purpose, and have some thought put into it so that when you walk into it, subconsciously you get in the right frame of mind for the task at hand. A prime example would be not mixing an office and bedroom. Your bedroom is a boudoir of soft luxurious textures with soothing lighting, and just the right amount of accessories by your bedside table. When you walk in, you know it’s a place of comfort. If it’s an office we’re talking about, then it should put you in a working frame of mind when entering the space. It should be complemented with task lighting or elements in your office that are specific to your work. When you try to combine the two, it is counterproductive and confusing for our minds. We want to avoid this and fully indulge in the task at hand whether that be resting, or working.

Appreciate the little indulgences

There are many comforting delicious moments in our life we experience every day that get lost because we’re moving too fast. Take the time to appreciate them, and enjoy it. This could include sipping your morning coffee from your favourite handmade ceramic, cozying up with a lush throw whilst watching the sunset,  enjoying a hot bath with some delicious bath bomb like these, or watering your plant babies. Be mindful and present- this will help you live at a gentler pace and embrace the positives.

Tidy up

Take the extra time you have to simplify your living space. Re-organize it so that it suits your slower lifestyle, and donate all of the things that you have, but no longer need or use. A cluttered space equals a cluttered mind. Keeping your surroundings clean and organized can do wonders for your mood, and is something you won’t regret!

Creating a warm atmosphere enjoying the good things in life is what we’re focusing on.  Here are some of our favorite products that support slow living:
